For more than 15 years Josh Leather, a family run business, has been supplying handcrafted, genuine leather bags and accessories, using genuine cowhide leather with handcrafted stitching.

About Us

Founded in 1991, we started out making moccasins and satchels out of our garage. Over time we have grown to 42 staff members and have diversified into all types of bags, footwear & leather work, ranging from leather coasters to upholstering of chairs and saddlery.

Skilled staff is extremely hard to find and most workers in Zimbabwe are trained in mass production factories, so we have to start from the beginning and teach them, which takes up to 2 years. 90% of our current staff has been with the company for more than 7 years.

There are 4 members of the family involved. Our factory is in Harare, Zimbabwe, and our South African office is in Port Elizabeth.

Production

All our leather items are cut by hand and then polished with beeswax to the required colour. The leather panels are then skived and folded by hand and finally punched and stitched together by hand.

We use a nylon based waxed thread that is extremely strong and does not rot. We use high quality metal fittings and all our zips are from YKK, while our lining material used is Taffeta. All our leather products are genuine cowhide
